Kuopio CityState
Kuopio Citystate is a neon‑soaked Savonian dystopia where cunning conversation, biotech power, and total surveillance shape everyday life.
Beneath hologram cafés and bit‑bars, the city’s trademark Savonian humor survives, but every sentence twists like a trap and trust is a rare luxury. Lakes and forests live on mostly as memories—because in 2055, Kuopio’s pride and power come not only from its water, but from its biotechnology empire. Biotechnology and neurochemistry are the region’s most valuable currency, and Kuopio is nationally renowned for its cutting‑edge mind‑control drugs, memory‑editing tools, and genetically tailored treatments—luxuries only a select few can afford.
Built on steep slopes and wrapped by Lake Kallavesi, the city has grown into a vertical cyber‑organism of towers, tunnels, and surveillance corridors. Corporate elites hide in fortified enclaves like Rönö Island, while ordinary citizens climb the hills on foot, lungs burning but spirits unbroken. Above it all looms Puijo Tower, now an AI‑run monolith whose unblinking sensors watch every movement across the city.
Kuopio 2055 is a world where water rights, neuromedical breakthroughs, and corporate power define society; where identities shift as easily as encrypted files; and where Savonian resilience endures in a citystate that never stops negotiating your fate.
Oulu CityState
While the face of the Oulu has changed from the olden days, the headwind still ever-present in the city center, albeit much colder and much more fickle nowadays.
Shit city spirit lives on, although the Paska kaupunni graffiti has been decommissioned due to so-dubbed anti-social effects. Still, the sacred text pops up (and is quickly removed by the maintenance crews, commanded by the Frostwarden). The old smell of money from Nuottasaari has been replaced by the stench of bromine which always seems to find a new direction from with it oozes. Trees have been cut down to limit bromine interaction from the refracted light, or that is the official explanation.
The Oulu underground bubbles under, taking inspiration from further north in showing that the law of the fell still applies for the oppressors, and freedom is not surrendered without a fight. Frostwarden will feel that Oulu can still ruin everything, even the most intricate plans and control structures. Circuits, go fuzz yourselves. No Rotuaari public demonstrations of misguided justice, or controlled buffering of the suburbs from the epicentre of control in city core can weather all tides.
